REFERRAL RESPONSE ON LAND USES ALONG THE STEVESTON WATERFRONT AND PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE STEVESTON AREA PLAN AND ZONING BYLAW

No public access provisions, through legal agreements or statutory right-of-ways, exists over 3866 Bayview Street (upland and water lot portion). Any kind of public access around the building on the water lot would require an agreement to establish a new Provincial license as administered by FLNRORD. Further, staff at the Depaiiment of Fisheries and Oceans - Small Craft Harbours (DFO-SCH) and Steveston Harbour Authority (SHA) have indicated that any projects that enhance public access to and along the waterfront, including opportunities to provide for a continuous walkway, would be beneficial to the commercial fishing harbour so long as harbour operations are not impacted and involve no encroachment onto areas needed to maintain boat access to SHA facilities and safe boat navigation within the harbour is maintained.
