Response to Metro Vancouver’s Referral: Reporting Back on Metro 2050 Amendment Options and Consultation Results in Response to South of the FRASER MAYORS’ REQUESTS

Summary of Amended Option 1 (Special Study Area) The amended version of Option 1 would allow all member jurisdictions to propose new SSAs before the December 31, 2027 deadline. At the time of developing this option, Metro Vancouver staff invited the three South of the Fraser municipalities to identify SSA lands outside the UCB. Only the Township of Langley proposed a new SSA for the Fraser Highway Employment Lands, which reflects the technical analysis undertaken over several years to support employment growth. The Township also requested the removal of two existing SSAs.
