On April 15, 2024, Council directed staff to engage owners and managers of large industrial,
warehouse, retail and office buildings in Richmond with a floor area of 100,000 square feet or
larger on a proposed annual energy and GHG emissions reporting criteria. The engagement
aimed to understand data-sharing considerations and identify the support building owners may
need to report their data. This work will help the City better understand energy use in
buildings, identify savings opportunities, and guide future policies and programs.
