The Report also highlights the City's continued focus on conservation and service reliability. Since the water metering program began in 2003, total annual water use has decreased by 17% while Richmond's population has increased by over 40%. Key 2025 initiatives included replacing 4.5 kilometres of asbestos cement watermain with PVC pipe, inspecting 653 kilometres of watermains and repairing 70 leaks, installing 36 multi-family meters, replacing 688 water meter registers, providing 234 low-flow toilet rebates, supporting 105 rain barrel purchases, maintaining outdoor and mobile drinking water fountains, and continuing the Simple Habits Save Water campaign.
