Once land use designation amendments are brought forward in an SSA, it would be considered a Type 3 amendment which has a 50%+1 voting threshold. The proposed amendment bylaw will clarify how new SSAs may be considered in the future. This would allow the MVRD Board to consider evaluating new proposed SSAs only until December 31, 2027. After that, any new SSAs could only be introduced through the development of a new RGS. This time-limited approach helps address emerging planning needs while preventing the ongoing use of SSAs to bypass higher-threshold regional amendment processes for significant land-use changes.
