Budgetary Implications
The total budget required to implement the recommended Phase 4 Imperial Landing and
Britannia Shipyards City waterlot landside frontages environmental analysis work, permitting
and dredging (which are located north of each dock dredging area) is estimated to be $1,500,000.
Staff are proposing that the remaining $500,000 balance of Phase 2 be reallocated to Phase 4,
and a one-time additional level request of $1,000,000 be considered as part of the 2027 budget
process.
The ongoing individual annual partnership commitment to maintain dredging of the Channel
from 2027 and beyond is estimated to be $365,000 for each of the four partners. At the end of
each dredging cycle, any remaining funds will be kept in a reserve to support future emergent
work, inflationary costs and project contingencies. Subject to confirmation of a continued
four-way partnership model between the federal and provincial governments, SHA and the City,
an on-going additional level request will be brought forward as part of the 2027 budget process.
The ongoing annual City commitment to maintain dredging of Imperial Landing and Britannia
Shipyards City waterlot channel and landside frontages is estimated to be $300,000. This annual
funding level supports the long-term strategy goal of dredging the Channel every 5 years and
will be brought forward as part of the 2027 budget process in conjunction with the Channel
submission.
