District Energy Utility (DEU) The applicant has agreed to connect the proposed development to the Alexandra District Energy Utility (ADEU). This site is adjacent to the existing ADEU service area, and Lulu Island Energy Corporation's (LIEC) intent is to expand the ADEU service area to include the subject site. District energy connection infrastructure is already in place to service the adjacent Fire Hall to the west of the subject property, and LIEC plans to extend the connection to the subject property's lot line to facilitate future servicing. Prior to rezoning bylaw adoption, a standard DEU covenant will be registered on Title requiring the developer to connect to the City DEU. The rezoning considerations include requirements for the registration of legal agreements ensuring that the building is designed with the capability to connect and be serviced by the utility and ensuring that the service connection will be made prior to occupancy.
