Report No. R127 Proposed Replacement of the Fire Services Bylaw Note: See Bylaws 22020 and 22060-22062 in the I Section. The General Manager, Public Safety submitted a report to bring forward the New Bylaw and to replace the Current Bylaw, aimed at simplifying and modernizing the City’s regulatory regime and ensuring alignment with the Fire Safety Act, S.B.C. 2016, c. 19 which replaced the Fire Services Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 144 in 2024. Corresponding amendments to bylaws that reference the Current Bylaw and contain outdated terminology are also proposed. It was Moved by Councillor Stutt Seconded by Councillor Bains That Council: 1. Receive Corporate Report R127 for information; 2. Approve the introduction of the Surrey Fire Services Bylaw, 2026, No. 22020, as generally described in the report to replace the Surrey Fire Service By-law, 1990 No. 10771; 3. Approve the proposed amendments to the Abandoned Properties Bylaw, 2007, No. 16394; 4. Approve the proposed amendments to the Controlled Substance Property Bylaw, 2006, No. 15820; 5. Approve the proposed amendments to the Surrey Fee-Setting By-law, 2001, No. 14577; and
